Only kidding: are you going to noise pollute the cycle path? Or are you going to wear one of those bluetooth thingmies that go in one ear only?

What a horribly dangerous idea. Having either ear phones on or listening to a ghetto blasters while cycling is the equivalent to texting while riding through busy traffic (and yes I have seen all three done)

I couldn't tell you what a good musical playlist for cycling is I've never bothered with ride music, my belief I'm safer concentrating my ears fully on what I'm doing & letting the ambient urban or natural landscape wash over does it for me.

Fast punky and the old skool metal with the big twiddly guitar solo in the middle get the blood pumping & makes me drive faster though, so I don't listen to that in the car & classical music or spoken word tend to take the competitive a**ehole edge off so I go for that. I guess it depends on what type of ride it is you're doing.

Couldn't agree more as regards earphones and (of course) texting. And there's very little point in playing music in traffic because you wouldn't be able to hear it without noise polluting, and this certainly isn't loud enough for that.

There are certainly parts of my commute where I thoroughly enjoyed it though. For example there's a 3 mile section of the A61/A629 without houses or pedestrians and with relatively few cars. I'm quite capable of judging where it is and is not appropriate.
