Suggestions for SPD adaptors to walk in?

Hi there,

I've recently switched from SPD-SL cleats to the SPD (MTB) types for my daily commute.

However, I want to keep my road shoes as they're light and stiff :

I've fitted some SH56 cleats but as you'd expect they are impossible to walk it.

I'm now looking for some adaptors to provide some grip and I've come across the SH40.
However some of the reviews say they wear out very, very quickly:

Does anyone have any experience with these or should I just bite the bullet and buy MTB shoes?

You can get stiff MTB shoes that look like road pedals but with recessed cleats on the bottom.

I recently picked up a pair of rockrider from decathlon and they are as stiff as the road shoes.

+1 i bought the same ones and i am very impressed for the price.
I use 2 bolt "mtb" style pedals on all my bike for ease of walking and interchangeability and i cant say its ever been the pedal system that has let me done on fast group rides , road shoes do offer a bigger contact patch but i doubt the non racer would notice the difference in power transfer.
I do use m520s on the commuter and a600 single sided with a larger platform on the nice bike anf TBH i cant really tell much difference.

Yeah, think I got mine from tweeks as well, just couldn't be bothered to start searching around for which one is cheapest at the moment. Think I paid 70~

I use these adaptors with Shimano R087's and they're fine. Had them for roughly 12 months and still going strong.
