Sun shade?

Cycling towards the low sun today was a real killer especially as the lanes round here were icy. I wore sunglasses but that proved to be a mistake - deep shadow just turned to black nothingness. Probably a peaked hat would have been best but tricky with a helmet. Ideas? Cheers Richard.

Slow down. We get that all the time in the summer here because the sun's so bright it makes the patches of shade look totally dark. It makes it very difficult MTBing through the woods in dappled sunlight because you can't see the big rocks in the shady areas.

A peaked cycle hat under your helmet should do the job.

I find the visor on my helmet invaluable for that and car headlights that have not been dipped (at night)
