I bought this at my local auction 3 months ago for £11.00 including fees. It’s beautiful

Started young, and still going.
A lovely looking bike. What year does it hail from?

Very much a Worksop product. The Super Cresta was like the standard Cresta model but with a bit more paint and possible higher spec fittings. Typical Carlton wrap over seat stays. A frame number on the rear LHS srop out will help date it, but definitely a mid 60s product. Love to see some closer pictures of it.

My comparable Carlton Constellation model, c1962 this has Resilion hubs, yours may be the same, or possibly Brampton. Carlton loved chrome. This has acrylichrome paint and I suspect the same finish is present on the Sun.

looks great, essentially a chrome frame with some paintwork and / or decals over it?

Yes in many respects, acrylichrome paint allowed the chrome to shine through the paint, a fragile but stunning look.

Here is an example of the standard Cresta

Hi Spokesmann,
This looks like a lovely Cresta -- the chrome is fantastic! Any idea of the year? I have a Sun Cresta that my cousin passed along to me in 1973 (and it was a few years old then). I'm trying to find the date it was produced. The numbers stamped on the bottom bracket are "3279422" and below that "X3180". I'm happy to post pics and provide more details. Apologies if this is not how this forum works -- I've just joined -- but you seem to know a great deal about Suns (and Carltons). Thanks for any info you can provide.
