Only 4 people on the ride today, Tim, Myself, Marcus (One of the Strood Hall helpers from the FNRttC) and Musa.
As soon as we set off, we had a puncture. It was me... the rear. So that's the front (on the FNRttC) and now the rear. Not bad though for the Rubino's. They have done a good few 1000 miles now, so perhaps new tyres time.
As Tim said, it was a very hilly ride. But what goes up sometimes goes down so along with some muscle burning lungbusters we had some cracking long descents. It really was a nice ride. Some of the views were stunning. Some of the deepest, darkest Kent's best Elizabethan and Tudor buildings. The rain kept off and there was very little wind. Perfect cycling weather in fact.
The 2 food stops were great, tea and bacon sarnies in each

.
Myself and Musa left Tim and Marcus at Yalding to make our way back home through the lanes to Bromley. A route I know very well due to our sunday morning runs. But not at the usual faster pace. I didn't want to push the knee too much. It's a pretty much straight forward route, but it does have 3 quite tough hills. Plaxtol, Ivy Hatch and Pollhill. Musa had not done a hundred miler until today and the strain was starting to show. But like the trooper i found him out to be, he dug deep, got spinning and got up them all. I think he will sleep very well tonight. I escorted him to Bromley were I left him to his GPS machine to show him the way home. So yes, he managed his first 100 miler. A great lad and a great cyclist is Musa. He'll also be joining us on the 29th for his maiden FNRttC and I will be dragging him home for the SMRbtH too.
Cheers Tim.
