Bonjour. Off to la belle France for a couple of weeks after the normal intravenous coffee dose. Bike, bus, plane, navette, hotel, navette, train, train, bike, home.

About time, I was waiting for your latest absurd thread title to say that earlier, the sky was a dirty yellow at the horizon and the few whispy clouds were a dark burgandy on top but black on the bottom.

It was lovely, but alas, there was no thread!

Another grey one here, not too warm either. So clothing choice might be difficult for todays club run.

Legs are still recovering after yesterday's ride. I think our little hill climb challenge up the North Downs Ridge toward the end of the ride finished me off. Although managed to get up both without putting my foot down, I count that as a decent result.

Chilled start then off out with the hounds (and the wife). Later is undecided but may get some weights done.

Nice wander into bishops castle from the campsite, breakfast from the coop followed by a 2nd one at a cafe 😎

Finish this then pack up the van and head home where apple based recovery will occur

Morning peeps. Lovely gravel ride out spoilt by the p####### fairy. To be made worse by discovering the pump i was carrying was foobarred. Currently sat at my brothers waiting for him to turn up and lend me his track pump. That's 2 pumps I've discovered that have failed this yr. Arghh.

Still strong and slightly chilly wind. Still not in full summer gear* but I did bump into 2 lady cyclists which was compensation.

still cloudy, just a few gaps, no bask

decided to use the time to replace the srm batteries

out with the old...

keep a pic where these attach just in case...

in with the new, did some new wire tails too...

of course taking off the chainrings meant i should take the chance to clean them

oh, and while i'm about it, let's take the opportunity to investigate the preload adjuster that was never as good as the one on the old crank/spindle that was retired after about 12 years...

after much faffing about, each time freezing the spindle to get it in/out of the bearings without hammering, came to the conclusion that the adjuster i saved from the old spindle was a better design than the new style and swapped it over, all this only involved removing/replacing the crankset five times, the old adjuster immediately proved it's superiority

tasks expand to fill available time, the only defence is laziness
