Thanks. He has been in and out of hospital more times than I can remember over the last 3 years, he's lucky to be alive. He's going back in because he has internal bleeding from the last op on his heart last year. They only found out because he was in for something else and the C.T scan picked it up.

Anyway back on topic I have plotted a route from Hemel to Stevenage station, going through St.Albans, Wheathampstead & Codicote (18 miles) so I'm hoping to leave around 8 - 8.15a.m, to give me plenty of time to get there.

Went out for an evening ride, Hemel to Codicote and back Via Harpenden, lovely rolling countryside, tomorrows ride will be an enjoyable one.

May see you enroute. I'll be leaving the stables in Codicote about 9.15.

I reckon I will be in Codicote around then, I'll be on a grey coloured Dawes

OK, as a final update before tomorrows ride :-

Weather looks OK
I'll be at Stevenage Station at 0930. I'll be the fat bastard bloke with a carbon road bike, a coffee and a Wallace & Gromit top.
Route will be Stevenage Station - Roebuck Inn - Old Knebworth - Nup End - Crouch Green - Rusling End - St Pauls Walden.
Depending upon timing and personal inclination, we may then throw in a loop via Preston, which would add a climb and 4 miles or so.
Either way, we end up at Emilys at Whitwell for around 11 or half past.
Route back then depends on whether we went to Preston or not, but we go back to Stevenage either via Codicote, or via Little Almshoe and Titmore Green.
Either way, we're looking around 20 miles. 25 if we add in the Preston loop.

Well, that went reasonably well.
Our little peleton of six got somewhat entangled in the charity ride that Teef mentions a page or so back, but we avoided any poatches of rain, and the cafe had ample supplies of cake!!
The ride for the 22nd will again start from Stevenage station, but will go east through Aston, Benington and Walkern to Ardeley, and back through Halls Green. It'll be a bit rolling - no serious hills, but a few smaller ones. Cafe stop will be Church Farm at Ardeley, at around 11:00.

Thanks to The Doctor for organizing the ride yesterday, a most enjoyable ride and an excellent cake stop! With cycling to and from Stevenage my total was 61miles for the day. I'll be there next sunday, see you then.

Excellent!! Next weeks ride will be doable on a SS.
I did most of it on a Wednesday Night Ride to the Pub the other week on a 63" singlespeeder.

Yes, thanks Doctor for organising.

I got hopelessly lost on the way home so ended up doing a far longer ride than planned - all good training though.

Can't make the next one but I'm sure I'll be along on a ride soon.

I'll maybe start doing them as a monthly thing.
I can think of at least half-a-dozen decent places to carbo-load and get some tea, all about 6 miles from St Ephanage.
