I am refurbing an old Specialized Hard Rock, according to a couple of gents on here it's around 1990.
The right side shifter, for the rear derailleur works fine, but the left i.e. for the front derailleur has no positivity to it.
When I shift up, the derailleur moves over and changes the chain onto the next cog, but then just springs back again. there's no 'hold' on the shifter.
a) does anyone know where I can see how this shifter goes together, to check that I have reassembled it correctly.
or, b) Could I replace this shifter with a shimano?
It would be nice to keep the original fittings if pos.
