Supermoon Tonight

I went down the Thames Path to Chiswick Bridge to photograph it. It was pretty bright but my photos were rubbish. I'll try and read the camera manual (a mere 211 pages) and learn about night shots. How many useless features can you pack into a £90 camera FFS?

I took it by holding my phone up to the eyepeice of my 8" dobsonian telescope (like @Stephenite 's referred to above).

The way most nights of celestial phenomena go round here - it's cloudy and foggy. 7 o'clock this evening though we got a good and bright display in a break in the cloud. I went scampering for to find my lens for my 8" Dobson. Yes, 8 inches! My gf and her friend called out from the bedroom "It's too late. Your chance has gone." Dammit.

Edit: The bedroom window faces east. In the direction of the moon. Just in case...

I've got a 6" Maksotov

They say that it is much more powerful and gives a better performance despite its size

It was alright, I couldn't measure how near it was though as I only had an 8m tape. As super things go it ranks along side...

Superbowl, not really super at all and useless as a bowl. Someone trod on my wheatabix and the milk just disappeared into the ground. Not super.

Supernoodles - basically shite noodles with monosodium glutamate in a sachet. Not super.

Super Leeds, do me a favour...

They're not finely tuned athletes like this anymore. Not super.

Nice. Celestron make some great SCT's, very much on par with Meade.
I had an Meade LX90 12", but it got a little bit difficult to manage in the end as the optical tube alone was 60 lbs without the wedge etc, sold it on 'stargazers lounge' a few year back. I notice yours has an equatorial mount, good choice!
