Just watched this and although it bought back fond memories of brian jacks it did strike me that many of the events seemed to be geared towards power and mid distance endurance at best. Its a pity that even though all the people competing are all superb altheletes that they could not have evened it out as the likes of Mo Farah getting hammered on the 100m and gym test could have been evened out by longer events .
Poor Lizzie , it shows how specific her training is and like Mo it would have been more intersting the events had been more evenly chosen to show the different aspects of fitness.

In an hour and a half, they were never going to have time for longer events. It was a bit of a shadow of the Superstars from our youth, but then that ran for a whole series. Good to hear the music again!

Encouraging though, to see some of these gold medal winners being so rubbish at other sports. I think it was Jade Jones I looked at and thought "I can swim better than her!"

Mind you, someone only managed two dips, which is 1.5 more than I could do.

of course, it was in jest although of course they did waste a lot of time and the magic of tv editing could have sorted out the time lapse

The footballers were always rubbish in the old superstars. Rugby league players weren't too bad. Athletes were hamstrung in that they could not take part in their specialist events. Still I often wonder how Brian Jacks always seemed to win, even beating Daley Thompson. However Daley Thompson could get over the 12' wall without using the rope, although not as well as Ed Moses.
