mentioned in a previous post that we are doing a fundraiser using "static" bikes. Was thinking of running a " How far can you ride in 5 mins (maybe 10?) challenge for Joe public, based on that fact it would help to get our ave mph up. Main question is , would there be any liability issues, or can we use a disclaimer when they sign up? Hope this makes sense, but legal, not my strong suit

TIA

Mid December, you over estimate how nice we are.

No idea on your question, but I would assume you would need to have some sort of public liability insurance in place.

Just be sure that they all sign a legal disclaimer, along the lines of "I know I'm unfit and overweight so if I explode/have heart attack/drop dead/etc., it is all down to me and no blame for the nice people who allowed me to do so". never let them use the word encourage, too many implications. Why not use bike riders to do the riding and let people guess/donate on how far they can ride in a given time? Much safer and could even make more money. No charge for ideas if the fundraiser is charitable. Otherwise it's 20%....

Charitable so no fee I'm afraid. We are trying to make it " works riders" but bringing in ringers is plan B or maybe plan Z not sure

I'm not sure you can sign away all your legal liabilities but I'm sure you will get a definitive answer. I know if you do look into getting liability insurance you will be governed by them as to what safeguards would need to be put in place.
