Hi all

I want to get a new Surly Long Haul Trucker but I'm not sure where to get it from. Was wondering if anyone had any advice as to where might be a good place. I'm looking at a couple of dealers in London, but neither has been overly keen to come up with a good discount yet.

I would prefer to buy from a shop but have found it online at www.activesport.co.uk for £899 (£100 off rrp). Does anyone know anything about these guys.

Surly owners - where did you buy yours?

thanks
Chris

Chris, I ordered some handlebars from them and paid via paypal. Then got an e-mail to say out of stock and would be about 6 weeks. Asked if I wanted refund or to leave as back order. I got money back to paypal no problem. So it might be worth calling them to check stock first.

Alternatively you could go via Wiggle, I know their list price is £1k but my discounted price with them is £879.99. Wiggle are very reliable and any problems get resolved without hassle.

I have a Surly Crosscheck but I built up from frame, which I bought from Wiggle.

chris, you're going to struggle to get a discount on any bike with the good weather starting and Summer on the way.

FWIW, mine was from Sideways Cycles in Alsager, found them via the Surly site.

I ordered my Long Haul Trucker from them online. I went down to their shop and they had none on display, they order them in apparrently. Communication wasn't great to be honest and the bike came in bits i.e. headset was not fitted (came in a seperate bag), fork, handle bars, stem, bar tape, etc were also not fitted.

I assume they recieved the bike like that and just shipped it straight to me without even opening the box up.

Either way it's a beautiful bike.

Got my Crosscheck from Summertown Cycles in Oxford. I don't think they are a Surley dealer, they just got some frames in and built the bike up. The Surley web site has info on dealers.

Don't Brixton Cycles deal with Surly?

They are. And they'll let you have a decent test ride, give you plenty of advice, change any bits you want, give you a free service...then still probably knock a few quid off or throw something in, even at full price dealing with them would be a bargain.
