When you ask about cycling routes, you mean roads right?

If he doesn't my answer of always should be changed to never. Also why is road bike not on the type list? Wiggins et al wouldn't be seen dead on my bike, so I wouldn't call it a racing bike.

Other than agreeing with Adrian regarding the cycling routes question, I'm really curious to know how know what bikes I own helps research into manufacturing. You can get bikes like mine made from Steel, Titanium, Alloys and Carbon Fibre.. Knowing what type of bike I ride means nothing in this regard

it would be difficult to come up with a set of questions less related to the manufacture of bicycles, in my opinion...

The only reason I can give/think of is that because its cycling,helmets are mandatory in order to take part/be included.
