Yep, I conkeeerrr with the others; a number of years ago I had a driver open his drivers door on me at caught the top edge of the door on my collar bone - lucky didn't break!, twisted and wrecked my racer and eventually sued the driver - well his insurance company for a couple of thous' - he overtook me going down hi;;, pulled in and opened his door to get out and took me out!!
I took pictures, a statement from one witness and let the proffessionals handle everything. The claim took just under a year, it almost halted my entry into D&C Police - but didn't ( thank The Big G !)
I made my statement to the solicitars and forget all about it, the insurance people offered mt £300 to start with to buy a new bike, I said no and had received a better second offer !!

I was at the top of Stonegate Road at the top of the hill, the car pulled out of Stonegate Lane Here The car pulled out of the left road, I moved into a strong secondary with the car moving to the junction, good job as I would have been over the bonnet.

Dropped bike off at Trax and driver called offering to pay for repair and costs.

Glad your ok and the driver sounds like a stand up guy who made a mistake.

Sorry to hear of your accident but, from what you have said, the chap who hit you sounds a decent sort.
I agree with seeing how you are in the morning and if the driver does change his mind - the often do when the bike shop gives their quote to fix anything that's wrong - professionals are the way to go.

Thanks again, my back is a little stiff this morning but overall I am ok. Got an email from the driver who has advised his insurance and they might contact me to confirm it is been sorted privately, I am a little worried about that as if more unseen damage is done he might change his mind or start to try and negotiate but as mentioned he seems a decent chap.

Got no bike at the moment as I sold my commuter and still waiting for my cycle scheme voucher for my Kaffenback (which is nearing the end of the hold period for PX), should get the bike back on Saturday and take her for a run on Sunday morning.

Damage to the bike is easy see & can be easy to fix. Damage to yourself can be harder see & take a lot longer too fix. I take it you've had yourself checked out/over.

My back is a little stiff and quite shuck up by it all, I am blurring it out by spending my wages on cycling gear Just want to get back on a bike and off the buses. Not been to the doctors as such, the paramedic checked me at the scene.

My new Look pedals are pretty scratched up now, do I claim for them or because they are working not?

What has been damaged should be replaced or fixed, if the driver is willing to cover these costs then I would let him privately. If you are injured more than bruising, have a witness, crime number from the police, then I would seek a legal claim for damages and personnel injury, but look to be waiting a year or more likely two. I was involved in an accident driver admited fault to the police, cut and dry case in my eyes, took two years to resolve with his insurance company. The end of the day if the emergency services where on scene then you have the incident logged. If he tries to negotiate cost then go down the solicitor route. Get the damage verified by a lbs and take photos of damage To you or the bike for future reference. Get well soon and good luck

Well.. Now you mention it, I have had to pay £20 bus pass for this week

Don't take any money off him until you are sure you are not injured, that you have a full repair quote for your bike, and he has included bus fares to date, and any that you will incur before you get another bike/your bike repaired. Accepting money before then could be deemed to be agreeing that all costs have been covered if he later wanted to argue about it.

Thanks, just called the LBS and its not good news. My rear wheel is that much out for a factory wheel it needs replacing, they are also not sure if they are sold as singles... Cost roughly £280 for single and over £500 for pair, didn't realise 2 way fit were so more expensive.

LBS are sending over the official quote/insurance cert today, I then need to add my expenses inc pedals, buses and taxi's over via email once I am sure its all. He might pass me to his insurance if a pair are needed, my dad seems to think they will cough up pretty quick since liability has been accepted (as much as I know as the police didnt contact me like they said and I still do not have incident number).

ps must add Ribble have sent me a barend plug/bung thingy as the silver one I got with the bike is totally scratched over. Thanks for great service Ribble.
