i been without internet for six months. also moved nearer to work so only 7 mile commute now so i can do it every day. also been doing a lot of swimming. no, not coz it's raining a lot, i mean real open water swimming, so been out training a lot (which paid off coz i smashed my one mile PB this year by 7 minutes whoop)

Wow, well done!

I first saw open water swimming at the last Olympics, and was very impressed - I like the rawness of it and the jostling as they turned about the buoys...

yea, it's great fun Arch. it's very hard, especially if the water is choppy, but you get a massive sense of achievement at the end. can do a mile now in 33 minutes and i'm now only 2 1/2 minutes behind my mate from work (who is a man!), i've gained 5 minutes on him this year (i got his time from last year and bettered by 7 minutes, and he bettered by 2 mins). i was joking when I said one day i'm going to beat him, but now i think MAYBE ... LOL. i'll be honest though, i didn't expect the 33 minute to come out (i was aiming for 36 mins), although i am in the latter part of 33 mins (33:48) i'm still in the 33 minute club. yay! i think it will get harder now to improve my time as i get nearer to the 30 min mark, which i think he is finding too. i can't wait for next year at the same place so we can race again. have a 2 mile one in Scotland in 7 weeks but i don't think i will be anywhere near him there, i'm about 7 minutes behind him on the 2 milers. you should try it Arch. www.greatswim.org

Are you the one that was doing that huge 40 mile cycle commute from London to somewhere in Surrey and blogged about it?
