I forgot Sky Player. I don't use Sky so it doesn't apply to me.

My gripe is that they treat phone/tablet subscriptions as completely separate to PC subs. Sometimes it suits me to use my laptop, and at others I want to use my Galaxy Tab. I would not be using both at once so I don't want to pay twice. They should tie the subscription to the person, not the family of devices it is going to be used on.

Who treat them separately I can watch on my PC/Phone/Tablet(once the app supports my new tablet) and TV using the same sky account.

The Android Eurosport Player app incurs a monthly subscription.

The Eurosport Player website requires Silverlight which Android currently doesn't support so you can't just login from an Android browser. To use the website on a PC, you need a separate subscription.

The ideal solution would be for someone to come up with a way of using Silverlight from Android and then I'd just use my current subscription to login.

Does anyone in your family have sky that will let you login and use the sky go app ?

Nope.

It's only really an issue when I'm away from home because I can use my laptop here. Travelling with the Galaxy Tab is more convenient than with the laptop because I don't drive so I have to physically lump the kit about with me. The laptop is fairly small but it is too big for me to want to carry far on my bike.

There are many angry comments here on Google Play from people who installed the Eurosport Player app and discovered that their existing subs don't work.

If I had the money, I would probably buy something like a Motorola Xoom - I've had good experiences of Motorola phones, so it is mostly about brand loyalty - but I can't justify paying much more than £100 for something that's going to be essentially a toy.

I totally understand your point lulu. My opinion changed when I seen a few family units get RMA'd due to them packing in. Basically what I am advising is if your going into the bracket above £200 then I would consider the iPad due to the fact it is a polished product. It's all well having a value Android tablet for a fraction of the price however if they constantly crash, offer poor support or sometimes wont run certain apps (Disgo) then they can be more trouble than they're worth.

I'm by no means an apple fanboy, however the wife has had a macbook for the past 6 years. The battery life has been outstanding and has lasted longer than three of my work laptops. If you cannot stretch then fair enough.

TBH (& typing this on an iPad) I wouldn't get an iPad for watching streaming video as there's so much (on YouTube and BBC, for instance) which you can't watch on an iPad.
