Hi all

I've got a tacx smart trainer to use in the winter with my boardman hybrid bike. Don't want to keep taking the tyre off mine and putting the tacx tyre on every time so thinking about getting a rear wheel and keeping the tacx tyre on that so I can just use it with the trainer.

Anyone know a good (cheapish) place to get an extra wheel from ?

I picked up a front wheel for my direct-drive turbo bike through Gumtree. £5 including a tyre and tube!

I just use the regular road tyre and wheel. As long as it doesn’t have a deep tread pattern it’ll be fine and doesn’t wear quickly in my experience (I’ve had the same tyre on for road and turbo use for a few years and it’s not close to the first wear indicator yet).

Even if the normal tyre wore out, it would still be cheaper than the cost of a new wheel, tyre, tube, cassette, maybe a new chain and if alignment not spot on, my have to tweak the cable tension each time you swap the wheel.
