I'm not commuting this week but got a text from my ride buddy last night.

Just north of regents park he was riding next to a guy who suddenly went over his bars, and was sent face first into the tarmac.

He was motionless, face down with blood coming from his face and head. My mate stopped immediately and thought the worst. He waited with him untill the ambulance arrived to take him to hospital as the guy regained consciousness.

His face was a mess and he was very confused...my buddy was also pretty shaken up.

The reason for the fall...the chaps forks suddenly snapped!.

My buddy noted rust either side of the fracture point.

Guys, winter is approaching as is rain, salt and general filth...look after those rides as they will need to look after you.

Must have been some amount of rust for both forks to give way. Nonetheless, hope the rider makes a full recovery and gets back in the saddle sooner rather than later.
