Another folding bike to consider is an Airnimal. I've done full camping touring with mine and accidentally took it fully loaded on a red mountain bike route so they can handle rougher stuff. It rides pretty much like a normal bike.

I had a look at that recently, more expensive than a Brompton but look really nice bikes

Wow, they've shot up in price! I paid just under £1000 for my Joey Explore, but that was over 10 years ago. If I could have only one bike it would be my Airnimal. The fold isn't exactly Brompton-esque but it rides well and I can take it on a train without booking which gives me flexibility when touring. There's a really good review on Bike Radar, but the price for that one is eye watering :ohmy:.

The Joey explore is the one I looked at. I thought Brompton was expensive but 😳. Lovely looking bike though. Will have a look at the review link 👍
