Taking bikes on train from Oxford to Glasgow?

ive traveled to oban on the train before all you need to do is go along to the station book your tickets then they book your reservation all the way to oban for your bike it is fairly easy there is six spaces on the glasgow to oban train

The guard can be a bit grumpy on the Oban train though. Friend of mine had booked a surfboard on but the guard was an arse about it every time he passed. She was so traumatised she actually hitched a lift back to Glasgow rather than take it on the train again.
