One of the coldest I can remember!

It got down to -9.5°C at one point.

I think the grease in my headset was giving up and at one point one of my shifters wouldn't.

Freehub was a bit sticky too.

ouch , thats chilly ! the worse i had was about 12-15 years ago ? when we had that really long cold spell when it was forecast -12 c .Funnily enough although it was very cold the roads were pretty clear as there had been no rain/snow for a period and what there was had been worn away by traffic .

Weirdly it didn't feel that cold. I had an extra layer on, but I've somehow felt colder at -2°C

Its a really damp cold around here at the moment. You can't see in the photo but the pipes and cables acquired a furry fluffy frosting coating on the ride home.

The spikey tyres are a hindrance for 5miles of main roads, but a boon for the other 1 and a bit miles.

indeed , its the humidity in the uk that make it feel worse either in hot or cold, once you get down to proper chilly i guess it makes it not feel so bad ?

Yeah, no, I don't think so. I bought my studded tyres for a frosty morning for the odd patch on a cycle path or frozen puddle.
WFH in a warm room thanks.
I'll go in some next week.

Admit I'm going a bit stir crazy, but there'll be chances aplenty.

-5 for me this morning and a balmy zero on the way home. Roll on Monday when it is supposed to get up to scorching +3 for the morning ride.

Yeah, I bet... plus it's easy to romanticise it when you don't have to deal with all the shoot / allergens / inevitable death... still brightens the day to have them around though

They can poop for England 😆😆 The death bit gets me every time, I never let them go alone or just with the vet, I always make sure they know I’m there.
They are amazing when it’s all going well though, best job ever

back on the Bike after a week off (went out on bike over christmas break and before cold spell last week). I probably could have got on my bike last week wasnt to bad in dirty old south London. just bad drivers that put me off. They were out in full force today making up for lost time, last minute three point turn in main then get narky when I pulled up on it with a nice punishment stop. Always a favourite of mine blind corner over take going down hill on a street with no steet lighting on that section and who says london cab drivers are the best in world. Gong to order bodycam today and start reporting to police had enough. Apart from that nice journey into work. Not to cold just cant wait for mornings to be lighter and and the evenings sick of going to and from work in the dark.
