Hard to believe its going to clear overnight and freeze, its still p1shing down. Traffic in the town/city centres at both ends of my train journey was at a standstill.

I charged my front light that wasn't working and after an hour or so it said charged, so I thought it might be OK but it was the same. I'll wait for it to dry a bit and try changing it with the battery pack or wall charger. If its still the same I'll order a new one, for £20 and circa 8-10years it was good and I like the way it mounts. I can quickly mount it anywhere and on any bike.

An 800lumen solid on the right side of my bars doesn't seem to be as visible as a 500lumens flashing judging by the 3 drivers that started to pull out on me in places.

Edit, charging it over night never helped but holding the power button down for 30secs seems to have reset it.

I've noticed this a few times - how come your glasses are in front of your camera? Looks like your bike's drowning!

Wet start but I'd correctly predicted it was only a shower and rode in as normal, rain stopped after a few mins. Just lots of mucky puddles, but could avoid the worst as it's half terms and there's little traffic about.

That's good to hear with traffic, although I'm coming in from the South East which is the worse affected area for the station upgrades at Piccadilly ! WFH today, although still full of a head cold and coughing a bit - might be car tomorrow.

Bright and dry but chilly, exhausted before I even started.

Ride spoilt early on by some stupid woman who absolutely had to overtake me despite inevitably having to brake almost immediately afterwards for the very obvious parked car and opposing traffic ahead. I managed to pass her on the inside and tbh wish I'd been more overt in my disapproval / bloody minded in taking the lane until I had to turn off, but instead let her pass.

More fun was had ascending towards the ring road as my drivetrain locked up solid while shifting the FD for the second time in recent months - this time a bit of investigation revealing that the chain had become jammed between the inside of the RD's jockey wheel and in inner cage. Not sure if this is a problem with excessive RD to cassette clearance or the result of running a mixture of different speed components... Regardless, yet another problem to be sorted out.

Got to the office to find that I'm apparently on my own today; the door open and an internal temp of seven degrees so I'm sat here now in my full outdoor gear trying to get the feeling back in my feet (which I know won't happen, and will result in more pain if I bother to attend kickboxing later).

Utterly f*cking sick of everything and everyone today - what a lovely way to start the week.

C'mon lad. Chin up and all that. Grab yourself a cuppa or a coffee or what ever your poison is and relax.
You ride a bike, think of all poor saps in metal boxes that don't.
No sausages today?

Thanks for the pep talk but I think today has already long-passed the point of being irredeemable; providing a jumbo scoop of excrement atop the existing dog sh*t sandwich platter served up over past months.

There were sausages and they were good, however really I should be cutting back to halt the perpetual weight gain I currently seem powerless to address.

I hope you're having more luck with your day....

Can you tweak your route to avoid the bad bits ? I've one crappy bit on my way home, but it avoids two other crappy bits - one is a real risk of getting mugged, and the other is crossing a very bad junction with three roundabouts. I'll take the little backstreet through a crappy 'village' where the 'local' drivers think cyclists are bits of doo doo. I just have to be really careful. I'm out of there in a couple of minutes.

Not going to lie, my day's pretty much ok so far.
But not great seeing one our our Cycle Chat commuting family down in the old dumps.
