Tried greasing the rear dropouts as last resort to get rid of the creak on the nice bike before leaving. Result! Silence!

Anyone else find rear dropouts are a frequent source of creaks? I get this quite often, particularly in winter, normally just tightening sorts it but sometimes find I need to apply some grease like today.

Anyway, did a cheeky extra hill on the way in to celebrate, feeling good after losing some weight and putting a lot of miles in the last few weeks. Very much looking forward to Alps trip at the end of June now.

Awful close pass today.

With an oncoming driver there was not room for a safe pass at all, I heard the smoky '07 Yaris failing to slow behind me and thought "this is either going to be very painful or very close".

Thankfully it was the latter, the oncoming driver beeped and swerved as dullard squeezed his way past. Probably a young driver.

They are about to get a Notice of Intended Prosecution I expect. A good one to weed out but not a happy riding experience for me.

Also I finally got good clear footage of the 12 reg BMW X3 who believes that no-left-turn signs at a road closure/roadworks do not apply to her. That has also been sent in.

And breathe!

Long way home last night on the single speed. 21miles seemingly mostly downhill and with a tailwind! remarkably fun. Far too many traffic lights though.
Knee not so happy this morning in the cold and grey.

Good to see you're another who films rides and sends in footage to Operation Snap. 👍

On the way in, a lot of activity at one of the several bridges in the city. Transpires that 'There's someone in the water' from one of the emergency crew.
Obviously there was an ambulance there, but I was puzzled to see seven police cars & three fire engines as well for apparently one individual.

A lot of traffic where I wouldn't have expected it on route to the Station and little or no traffic in town where I would have expected. Except the driver who overtook me, giving plenty of room, but on a blind bend only to turn into a residential cul-de-sac. It was a bit of a slog into a cold north wind but 🤞 it right and switching to a southerly which will bring a 15deg temperature shift today, just in time for going home and the weekend.

Major police incident at end of Bristol Railway Path today. Sealed off from Lawrence Hill road tunnel to end, cop car parked in main entrance, police everywhere. Forensics on scene....maybe a body?.

Took the big boys bike today as the weather is so nice here in the South East it would be rude not to cycle all the way home.
And that's what I did. 27 miles. Only blighted by a sodding headwind.
I've been trying to break the 2 hour barrier, not done it yet. 2 hours 1 minute
Getting there and would have done today but for that pesky wind.

With me having cycled 7 days in a row and with rides planned for tomorrow and the next I resisted the urge to cycle 18miles to Biggleswade station and took the short 0.8miles to St'Evanage station. It was too nice to take the train all the way to Pottyboro and battle a headwind for 4 miles through city centre traffic, so I opted to get of a station early to have 17miles of nearly all sidewind and a bit of tail. Oh and it was warm for a change and even I saw a drop of sweat on my glasses after 15miles. I was wearing a soft shell jacket with sleeves zipped off on top of a cycling jersey, long finger gloves, winter socks and unbreathable goretex mtb shoes though
