Boiling. Will adjust the wardrobe for tomorrow. So nice not to be pulling the skull cap down hard over the bottom of my ears.

Traffic very heavy near home so hit my off road route.

Interestingly today, I was like you too warm. My HRM said my HR was too high. Took off my buff and partially unzipped my top and all normal. Definitely need to reassess tomorrow's kit

Took a shorter way in today as I have been battling a head cold. New separated cycle paths. Involuntary deflation incident provided an opportunity to test my tube replacement skills, I couldn't find anything in the tyre, or any hole in the old tube. Will investigate this more thoroughly over lunch in case I missed something.

It was nice not to wear thermal longs, and to leave the jacket at home.

Short route in this morning as I really struggled to get out of bed and had to wash my hair. I can't remember the last time I felt as reluctant upon waking as I have the past few days and it's interesting to see how accumulated caffeine apparently still has an effect in the mornings despite not having been taken for maybe 12hrs.

Just about left on time feeling utterly horrible, however the ride was fantastic - a bit overcast to start with but mild, fresh and with a lot of other cyclists and songbirds around on the route of mostly rural cycle and tow paths... it's like the world was gently poking me and suggesting "come on you miserable pr*ck, it's not that bad".

Another one that's really buoyed my mood today, which is very much appreciated.

Pulled up to some temporary lights on red.

Oncoming cars flowing towards us, waited, no issues.

opposing traffic cleared then about 4-5 seconds later, before the red cleaered, the car behind me and a van behind that decided that was good enough for them, they'd waited enough and set off through the red. The third was about to follow but I set off as the light cleared.

bloody cyclists eh?

It wasn't me!
Today was the first real commute on the new commuter (self built based on a Genesis Croix de Fer frame). Astonishingly it was faster than expected, because the guy on the bike was the same as on the old commuter (The Light Blue Robinson V2), tyres are the same, the pannier was the same and the parts on the bikes are very comparable - with one exception: the brifters on the Croix de Fer are Campagnolo Veloce and on the Robinson V2 the brifters are Shimano Sora R3000. The inevitable conclusion is: Campagnolo is faster than Shimano.

Ironic: I was looking a the Croix de Fer today. Can we get the frame in Germany?

Warm return. Change of jersey tomorrow ! Picked up a thorn on the way home - must have been on the farm track in the last couple of miles as the tyre went pretty flat after I got home - hadn't noticed until I was putting the bike away - rear was soft. Flat by the time I had a shower and went to fix it.

A short return home due to obligations but a great ride on mostly tow path as the sun sank towards the horizon. Lots of cyclists about, everyone in a good mood, a few pleasant interactions with various other folks

A short commute tonight to the station closest to my office, as I wanted back for a training session. Standing on the platform I was kinda wishing I'd had cycled to one of the stations further up the line and forgoed the trainer. When I eventually got on the train I was facing a beautiful sky and I was even more convinced. I almost got off the train early but it was getting dark. If I cycled at the start it would have been mostly in the light.

At the Pottyboro end there was quite a bit of traffic heading north but hardly any going south (my direction) bizarrely. That didn't help with one of the many ninja at Town Bridge, car lights were at the perfect angle to make him invisible to me. It's a good job we were both going slow and I was about to stop at the signal crossing.
