Ride It Like You Stole It!

Escaped the really heavy rain, but was waterproofed up for the ride home, so pace was slow into the headwind. WFH tomorrow so I get a few hours back in the evening to pack the van for this weekend's camping. Next ride will be in Newborough Forest. Panniering up the CX bike into bike packing mode and using the new Ortlieb Gravel panniers to carry the 'picnic' to the beach - it's about a 40 minute walk to the beach, or 10 mins on the bike ! MrsF asked if I could use the work panniers - I said I'd bought some new ones for bike packing - doh, busted....

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Not a commute but I went into the flat Fens at lunchtime for 153w of work going Southbound down the 3 miles Holme Road I was going 15.6mph and after doing a loop for a slightly less 142w up Holme Road (Northbound) I was going 22.2mph. It was windy indeed!

in 17.7 avg , home 11.9 avg !!!

9/10 times its my ride in that I get the problems with drivers, well today was that 1/10 time. albeit weirdly compressed into like less than half a mile/5mins of riding, before that everything had been fine, but I get a bus driver (not in service) who squeezed me on the apex entry to a roundabout to overtake me. I then get nearly left hooked on the next roundabout by another driver, and to finish it off had a guy drive at me head on who wanted to play chicken.

Id like to think any of them cared about me or the consequences of their actions, but they probably didnt.

Got absolutely drenched on the way. My own fault, I saw the dark clouds and thought 'i can make it into work before the heavens open up'. Thankfully had some old newspapers (Metro) in the office, stuffed them in my shoes to dry them out .

Quite a quiet ride to the train station not really much to report but a couple of polite drivers. It seemed marginally easier too with my new front wheel despite having last night's TT in my legs.
