I think when I worked for the council my commute was less than that but it was very easy to extend it, particularly at night, and have the fall back of the short commute for when things went wrong or I was too tired.

only problem with that as alway police are thin on the ground and in reality few get taken by the boys in blue. Where I live in London electric scooters and over clocked eletric bike are a regualr occurance I have seen police drive past bikes and scooters and not bat an eyelid personally think its all for show just so they can make it look like they are actually doing something about it. Some days feels like I am in the minority as I have no electric motor and the only other bikes are food delivery drivers.

If they had started confiscating them as soon as they started appearing on the roads they would only have needed to confiscate a few to kill the demand. People would have thought twice before spending a few hundred pounds on something that could easily be taken away.

Instead, the number of illegal scooters was allowed to balloon, giving the impression that it was fine to ride one in public. Then illegal electric motorbikes followed, and now there are so many that it is impossible to get rid of them.

I both live and work at the edge of town, and there's a rural loop I could take to increase the distance, but unfortunately it is a busy commuter rat run, so I'm not sure how nice a ride it would be. My current commute is fully on a cycle path, so fairly safe, except for loose dogs in a short section through a park.

I was at the edge of town too but Pottyboro directs all the traffic to the town centre where I worked (well just the other side of it) and the roads round the centre were either quieter or manic in the direction contraflow to me. There was always the river path too which was completely traffic free. Hopefully your council are on the ball and do something about the rat running.

Yesterdays evening commute was the first one this year that I thought, yep, it's warm out there, and it was. Lovely blue skies and very warm sunshine for the ride.
This morning is a different matter, we've got northern grey, cloudy skies. It wasn't really cold, but the wind made it feel colder. Made cycling in just that little bit harder, but a little bit of SCR soon got the blood pumping.

Warm enough this morning but a nasty headwind and rain made for a miserable commute, over 3 mph slower than yesterday.

Bright start to the day got up greeted with regular headwind so couldnt be bothered speeding into work, enjoyed the bright April sunshine hardly a car on the road either all working from home this week or finished early for Bank holiday. Only really dickhead of the morning were the two buses who decided to block the road while have a chat to each other. Cycle route in still slow due to tempoary traffic lights how long does it take to re-surface a road are now in the fourth or fifth week. Looking forward to the weekend cycling and a nice break.

I have to agree they are a meanace, locally where I live they are everywhere you have no chance of getting rid of them. Teenagers all dressed in black with face coverings are a regular sight, not much you can do about it eventullay the will have to look at a way legalise it as its the only way they will get any control back over electric bikes and scooters

At least it was dry this morning! A lot cooler and still a nasty headwind but a lot more pleasant than yesterday.
Still playing with saddle fit and got the bike in the kitchen last night so I had a proper level floor to start with so set up feels a lot better than it was yesterday.

Another day another headwind into work, enjoyable sunny start to the day, lack of traffic as rest of uk seems to have packed up for bank holiday early. Last day in work this week four day weekend so looking forward to the on coming rain, snow or whatever the bank holiday likes to throw at us, nice all week of course. Off on 30 miles cycle tomorrow so guaranteed a headwind then as well oh jioy.

Yesterday evenings commute was windy as feck. Blustery all over the place. It didn't know whether it wanted to be a headwind, sidewind or tailwind. It's still windy this morning but thankfully no where near as much.
A beautiful blue sky sunny morning today.
Tacking along the A21 I bumped into an old long time fellow cycle commuter who I hadn't seen for a fair while, so nice to have a chat for a few miles until we parted ways at Deptford.
