Monday what a fun day, lovely start nice sunny start, a bit busier than last week. All okay until got to mini round about, bin lorry decided to power through with out looking almost took car out, emergency brake lucky no one was behind it would love to have that on video cam and report as dont think you can get any more dangerous that that. Had altercation with tescos delivery driver yesterday pulled straight out into traffic with out looking blocking both lanes, again should have reported him, pulled him up on it only to get sworn at. Probably day off from cycling tomrrow as its due rain heavily. Plus need a break from idiots and morons Temporary traffic lights this morning narrow one lane gap and dickhead tries to over take.

Supposed to have been raining all morning - all day. Not started yet, so bonus dry ride in. Heavy traffic as always compared to half term.

I had wondered yesterday when I was working from home if it was still half term as the local schools were still shut. NOPE, it was busier than its ever been.

woke up to rain gave it a miss not because of the weather getting wet I can deal with but due to driving round here safer to take the car today having driven into work and seen standard of driving in wet conditions glad I did.

Google was telling fibs, the all night and all day rain was not in attendance. Damp under tyre and rather muggy on the way in. It did try to spit at one point. Yup, high schools back, but fortunately, no bad mums parking on the double yellow/in the cycle lane this morning (actually a cycle lane with double reds, but the mums don't care).

Woke up to heavy rain but it abated whilst I was doing the usual morning getting ready stuff to just a bit of drizzle. So it was a wet ride to the station.
By the time I had got of the train at the other end it had stopped so at least that bit of the cycle commute was dry, though very wet roads.
Temperatures a very nice and cyclable 16°
Now sat in the comfort of the office nursing a cuppa, it's absolutely heaving down again.

So rainy commute # 25 for the year
Same period last year, 10 rainy commutes.

Much the same. Particular car highlight for me:

Crossing a 2 lane road, (on a cycle lane / ped crossing). Van driver in my near lane (the outer of the two) can't make progress because of cars in front, waves me across. He had no idea what was coming up inside him! Fortunately I was looking.

This is something always on my mind on my cycle commute. Over the many years I've been riding to work I've had far too many close calls with drivers waving me on. I just don't trust them or what they can see.

Tuesday 2nd

I had to back track on a section of my ‘alternative’ (ie; daylight) commute

This Manitou telehandler was a lot bigger than me! ^_^

I’d come through NewLands Woods (heading along the ‘dismantled railway’ on Geograph map), from ‘Stanley Ferry’ (where the River Calder is crossed, via 2 aqueducts, by the Aire & Calder Navigation Canal)

I was just a few dozen yards past the old stable block

Ha.. not something you would really have a problem with on a SE London commute.
