Wet. Again. At least it's not quite so cold.

Got taken down by another cyclist last night. On a shared ped/2way cycle lane they were dropping downhill (slightly) round the corner at more speed than I use, and didn't quite avoid me. Clashed handlebars and both down. Bruises and scrapes only, bikes ok. Quick check of each other and rode on. Could I have been closer to the hedge, maybe, but there's protruding branches. Could they have been closer to the wall - yes but there's pedestrians there too frequently. Just one of those things. (On the FLoop by sainsburys carpark n Fallowfield for those who know the area).

Had numerous near misses on there - exactly as you say, people coming too fast down the hill and round the blind bend.

After yesterday being drab 🌧🌧🌧 Tonight turned out to be 🌞🌞🌞 but it was still 🌬🌬🌬 and I was a bit tired. So I never got off the train early. At the far end though it was still warm and 🌞🌞🌞 So I bimbled the long way home. Id saw in a week they'd finally joined up a new bridge near my old flat (built circa 3 years ago) with an even newer cycletrack so I made that my via destination.

Back on the bike after two weeks with 'the lurgy'. Took it easy today. Only one idiot who decided she didn't want to wait in the traffic queue, and drove over to my side of the road around a traffic island. Fortunately there was 'enough' room that I didn't go over the bonnet.

That's a very bright cycle track! Looks like a reasonable provision for once. Lets hope they continue to maintain it.

Monday morning bimble woken up by a noisy gravel bike rider going only slightly faster than me, so I could tuck in and put some effort in. Good start to the day. Only marred by a couple of people who wanted to drive on my painted bit of road.

Earlier start than normal, seems to be paying off as deekhead driver count lower. Left this morning and felt like school summer holidays had a couple of close passes near traffice islands but apart from that quietier journey amazing how much difference 15 minutes makes to the traffic. Now leaving work at 6am at work for 6.40 maybe a bit to early but happier and feels safer. Just need to sort out a new route for way home as douche bag count goes through the roof then.

Everything was busy this morning and this train is going to be packed too. They changed platforms on us 3 times this morning. The regular train is in the right platform but it must've broken down.

just out of interest does any complaint ever get followed up on?

I'll get an email about 3 weeks later, it says : -

"Thank you for your submission. We review each submission individually and yours has now been processed.

As a result of your report, we can confirm a positive outcome in that the driver(s) identified in the submission(s) will receive either a warning letter, a fixed penalty, or a prosecution.

We appreciate you taking the time to report this and for helping to keep our roads safer.

Please note that we are unable to accept replies to this email and our decision is final."

I've seen plenty of improved driving after reports in the past, and some drivers on local social media whining about getting caught doing something dangerous/illegal and having to pay a fixed penalty, go on a course or similar.

During 2025, 10,741 Journeycam submissions were made by members of the public in Avon and Somerset, resulting in 2,420 notices of intended prosecution and 7443 warning letters being issued.

My worst closest passes of 2025 seemed to be met with more than a warning letter, guessing from recent data released.
