Tales from today's commute....

I went with the short commute again today primarily because I wanted back for a group ride but secondly to avoid the mammoth head wind. This is what I had in the morning, if I had got off early I would have had 4.25 times that.

My punishment was a train with AC failure in temps of 25-29deg C.

With the works to the Queensgate roundabout I got off the train to total chaos.

A car driver in front of me as we left the station and turned right proceeded to the inside lane of the Borges Boulevard dual carriageway only to realise they couldn't and immediately pulled into the outside lane which I was crawling into. His first reaction was to angrily shout "What are you doing". I could say the same about him 🙄 but I left him without interaction and left him to enjoy the queue.

The nice thing about the chaos in town the junctions just outside it which are usually grid locked were relatively quiet. The drivers I encountered there too were far more patient 👍

Importantly I got back in time for a quick change of shoes and helmet, put my contact lenses in before jumping on the good bike for the group ride.

Lovley commute in, lighter headwind than normal nice to be greeted with it daily this week normally get it going home. Usual close passes had a few dickheads splapping hazards on and double parking anywhere you like on the corner of a main road next to a traffic island kept mouth shut and ignored the twits. Idiot turning right decided to comit to turning right when theres a que of traffic so everyones sat there nice long que of traffic. Put my thumb up told him nice one he wound the window down so told him to f off. Fastest journey in this week that said had headwind every day so not even that fast. Looking forward to journey home.

Much finer riding today, no haze, light winds, sunshine and cool air. Highlight passing a truly ugly Lamborghini SUV stuck in traffic. If you spend that much money on something to go nowhere, why would you have it such a horribly beige/olive colour.

Back at commuting after time off for LEJOG and Cycling in France

Beautiful morning, beautiful ride in

Observations:
i want either a hire bike or an e bike as they both appear to be exempt from all traffic laws, and come with their own protective force field so that when riders barrel through red lights, swerve in and out of traffic dangerously etc they are protected from consequences?
Second observation, what is it with people with large bags hanging from handlebars - often large bags for life. However,
star prize goes to the chap this morning with his back pack hanging from handlebars. Obviously never occurred to him it could be worn on his....back

Tuesday turned out to be a terrible mental health day and I left work feeling utterly horrible; did get a few miles in though (on a broadly similar route to Monday) and ended up stopping for a pint in town... which perked me up a little.

Regardless I was certainly in a much better place once home than I would have been were the car involved.

Thankfully after a reasonable night's kip for once I'd managed to pull my head out of my arse on Wednesday; the journey in being tolerable, out being really pleasant
