Took pretty much the usual northern loop, bumping into a couple I knew on Port meadow. This was really nice as he recognised me and said hello; I'd probably not seen them for ten years and they were really my ex's mates so it was nice to be remembered

Scored a few reductions and headed into town for a pint on Broad Street. As I sipped my Guinness in the setting sun, a girl sailed past on a dark drab green Tour de Fer fitted with a Jones loop bar... :becool:

Nice Morning weather just right, close pass thursday today. Never sure what the rush is to get to a red light or over take near a round about but the bellends were back in full force this morning. No wind at all nice fast ride in averaged 14.5 mph this from an app that told me i was doing 50mph downhill the other week

Nice morning, office day for me. As schools are out I guessed that there wouldn't be many rat runners on the back lanes, so decided to extend my commute. I was right, and had a lovely 8.5 mile ride mostly on quiet country lanes instead of 1.5 on a shared path next to a busy dual carriageway. Bliss.

Cycled in a few minutes later today than normal ( 30 mins). Got to first usually busy section and no traffic at all....odd I thought- then realised it was school holidays. Great - 6 weeks of lower traffic commutes

By contrast, when I got to zone 1 area in London - traffic much busier - think that was because I was later than usual.
I will avoid expressing my views on my observations of the lack of riding skills and lack of obeying traffic regulations, such as traffic lights, stop signs etc of those on e bikes, especially those on hire bikes.

Did have to wonder about one cyclist this morning who was cycling wearing a face mask, obviously to protect his health. This would suggest he may be risk adverse...he also had his helmet on the handlebars...not sure of the logic there. Either wear a helmet or not. Not sure how a helmet on the handlebars is doing anything to keep him safer than not having a helmet with him

It wasn't me!
There are school holidays in Northrhine-Westphalia, too. So it was noticeably less traffic than usual.
On the way to work a deer watched me out of a corn field, just sticking her head out. That reminded me of a crossover between a meerkat and the aliens in the spaceship in "Life of Brian".
But every light has it's... headwind. The whole way back from Münster. On the other hand that gave me more training time today.

A bit disorganised this morning. Couldn't find my HR monitor for starters (I think thats still in the car after last night's TT), I quickly gave up searching for that and went out the door only to realise I had forgotten my gloves (I need them now thanks to chemo induced neuropathy) and wheeled my bike back into the stand. The bike isn't the most stable in the stand when horizontal (its a vertical stand) so of course it fell down. When I finally got out, I thought I should have went harder on last night's TT as my legs felt good until the first hill, them I felt it and crawled up it. I usually stay on road there but as I was going so slow I jumped onto the shared use path next to it. After all that I got to the Station a minute early.
