Another lovely morning, out fasted having managed to abstain since Saturday night.

Legs somewhat reluctant but I didn't feel particularly hungry; however I figured I could do with some protein after yesterday's excursions so pushed the boat out with three sausages - which today scored a solid 7.5/10.

Bus driver at the park and ride actually giving way to the cycle path got a wave of thanks, despite his slightly unnecessary waving of me across as if he was doing me a favour.

Not much else to report; fairly quiet and thankfully the bloody awful roadworks at the bottom of St. Aldates have been curtailed.

Back up the tow path with a light spot of pruning for another cracking car-free commute

Fine riding again, overcast but the forecast (and needed) rain held off.

Sausages as a source of protein I think you might be deluding yourself there. There will be more fat and carbs in them than anything else.

Sausages as a source of protein I think you might be deluding yourself there. There will be more fat and carbs in them than anything else.

According to this:
One pork sausage patty (27g) provides 88 calories, 5 grams of protein, 0.4g grams of carbohydrate, 0 grams of fiber, 0.3g grams of sugar, 7.3g grams of total fat, 2.4 grams of saturated fat, and 220 milligrams of sodium

Which translates into just under 20% protein (comparable to cod while chicken is 25-30%), 1.5% carbs and 30% fat. The fat doesn't bother me as much as carbs would as it's what I'm mostly running off currently and I'm managing to lose weight at a modest rate.

Perhaps a big bowl of Sugar Puffs would be a better proposition...?

Given how much you know and research about nutrition, you still seem struggle to reach your targets.
I could offer suggestions but I feel they might come across as criticism.
The bottom line is put less in your mouth for the greater the weight loss.

my wee niece had her second cycle ride earlier, we went from south queensferry to new bridge on the cycle tracks, all in she managed 9.2 miles, just need to teach her to be able to stand up while cycling for hills as her bike only has 1 gear but she done really well and over took dad and i some times lol

she was getting a bit tired out on the way back but was soon zooming about her bike out side the house afterwards lol

do they still make Sugar puffs ? Id assumed theyd been sent to cereal heaven for daring to have too much sugar in them like Ricicles.

I do think sausages count as protein though, in fact I think most meats do or at least to modern cooking notions that like to distil everything down to protein, carbs and fat.

Cycling home last night was a bit slow as was a bit hot. Got to a place called 5 ways went straight over the round about and up the hill had small single decker bus bib me up as was about to turn right I know the route so turned right got bibbed up again. The pillock then over took and piled me into the curb as bus turned into the curb had to get off the road to avoid being crushed. As wtih all buses that seem to cut me up less than 10 yards down the road the twat had to stop. I banged on his window and shouted at him only to be ignored. Having reported similar incidents recently to to bus company absloutley nothing will happen if I report it so off to by camera and start uploading to youtube going forward not something i wanted to do but sick of being driven off the road.

I'm well aware of that, thanks. I'm also aware of all the other real-world factors at play and am not prepared, or able to completely forsake my enjoyment of food in chasing weight loss. I know a miserable, unrewarding diet is unsustainable, counter-productive and will inevitably only result in rebound binging on crap.

For the time being my diet is delicious and sustainable - plenty of salad, veg, berries, nuts, yoghurt, cheese, lean chicken and fish; with the sausages, occasional bun-less burgers and scratchings being the only questionable bits.. The weight continues to slowly fall; if at a lesser rate than I'd ideally like.

I'm probably as lean, fit and healthy as I've ever been and still creeping in the right direction. For now this is enough, realistically as much as I could ask for and a world away from having spent most of my life fat, sedentary and existing on carb-heavy junk with zero nutritional value.

It appears not and I think you're right - seems like the Honey Monster's been forced to rebrand to "Honey Monster Puffs" and make his wares less diabetes-y.. to varying levels of outrage expressed through the medium of supermarket product reviews it would seem

Thanks and yes re the Sausages - while they're are hardly a gold standard protein source and full of all manner of other crap, they work pretty well with my myriad dietary requirements and of course keep me going out of my way to the city centre every morning

Thankfully a fairly unremarkable one this morning. Overcast but pleasant when I left; meaning I inevitably forgot my sunglasses without the immediate reminder of their requirement.

Nice quiet roads into the city; had a somewhat irritating Mexican standoff with a woman turning into the park and ride - while I appreciate the sentiment of stopping to let me cross she was the only car, had priority and I'd already slowed to nothing so we'd both have gotten to where we were going faster had she just followed the status quo..

A pretty fast run, joining a large throng of other cyclists at the lights. Upon changing we all set off at differing rates; my defaulting to the far RHS as usual and slowly overtaking everyone else - being given a good run by a couple of ladies on unassuming bikes. Pantani'd it up the hill to the market for more poor sausage choices - only scoring two this morning to find them utterly exquisite upon arriving at the office.

Made good time so considered nipping home to get my sunglasses, however slowed by the horrible diversion on the tow path that takes you over a rough, chalky track and worse rubber matting on grass which feels like riding on flats.. so I diverted over Donny bridge for a slightly shorter route to work; arriving conspicuously early for once

BMW X5 pissweasel meted out an excruciatingly close punishment pass rather than steer a little to his right. I avoided all interaction at the lights ahead and have sent it in. Wish I could be confident he'd get more than a warning letter.

Good job my d-lock wasn't easily to hand.

This is bad. Seems like you get more than your fair share of close passes. Is this a particularly busy road?

The lanes are narrowed due to roadworks, to install a separated cycle path. So, drivers are frustrated by the roadworks which can make it harder for them to overtake a cyclist, and some express that resentment using their vehicles.

I have frequently paused at a suitable place to allow any queues building up behind me to get past, but it can take over 2-3 minutes before I can restart my journey if I do that. It's usually the amount of oncoming traffic which restricts their ability to get past me, but this particular chump had no oncoming traffic at all, so he could easily have given me some space.

I'd had a lovely uneventful ride in on the same route yesterday, and most of today.

Prick. Glorious that you have the satisfaction of being able to report him though... such an interaction would probably see me getting myself into trouble at the next stop due to a lack of any other means of redress.

Also: Bonus points for the use of "pissweasil"

Thanks!

I was muttering "don't interact, don't interact" as I drew up behind him. The officer reviewing the footage should be proud of me.
