It certainly does. I have half-confidence in Avon & Somerset police.

Typically half more than I usually have... although I must admit my faith has been slightly buoyed by some of the responses I've had when reporting dickheads on motorbikes / ebikes in places they shouldn't be.. even if the outcome has probably been minimal.

Cycling into the city this morning, went over the footbridge above Grapes Hill, the usual rule, 'cyclists must walk' notice at each end.
However, most ignore and just keep on riding, so whilst I was on said bridge, I saw lad on an electric scooter riding up the opposite slope towards me.
I was most impressed that as soon as he saw me, he got off and walked the rest of the way - !
Wasn't aware I'm that scarey looking - !

Riding through Rottenburg. It's an ancient market town: think of York with more streets and a bonsai minster.

As I was riding through the marketplace, which was full of kids, stalls, delivery vans and grannies on bicycles, some poor skip lorry driver emerged very gingerly from the very narrow street I was about to ride down. I gestured to ask which way he'd go, and he grinned and made a circling movement: this made sense: there's a building site right next to him, and he'll probably need to reverse in. I pointed down the road he'd emerged from, and he waved me forward. I got a "Danke!" as I rode past.

Emerged slightly late into a gorgeous morning. Roads were mostly pretty deserted allowing a quick and unencumbered ride into town despite only six hours kip and now probably running completely on fat.

The ride got faster after low-key abusing a van driver parked halfway across the cycle path at the park and ride (in the bit that should only be used by buses) only to find him following me shortly afterwards.. so I put in the effort to keep a shade above 20mph so that he'd have to break the speed limit to catch me. Thankfully he soon turned off without incident.

Overtook everyone on bikes including a bloke on some posh plastic thing; although he reeled me back in going up the hill judging by the ridiculous, intermittent buzzing coming from his freehub as he followed me.

Called the sausages right today; committing to three and being rewarded with a triumvirate of crisp, golden examples :becool:

Back out along the tow path with little incident to arrive at work just on time.

Now in the office with the door open, some sublime jungle on and a welcome, conspicuously quiet phone - long may that continue!

EDIT: Door now closed on account of the heat; aircon on so I've had to turn the jungle up..

I wonder if you might, in a spirit of quiet benevolence, disclose the location of this now‑celebrated purveyor of cooked meats, so that I — and any other wayfarers who happen to find themselves in Oxford — may duly pay our respects and partake of these distinguished sausages.

Disclosure of any further information regarding my source would need to be predicated on a number assurances..

Darling, of course. Simply present your list of assurances, I’m sure they’ll be fabulously unreasonable, and I shall consider whether I can meet the criteria for access to your clandestine sausage dossier.
