Just finished our tour of the Ardèche and Vercors on the tandem. We drove to Lyon then dumped the car at an accommodating chambre d'hôtes and set off for the wild blue yonder.
The route was pretty hilly, through the Mont Pilat, the Monts d'Ardeche and then across the Rhône to the Vercors. Just one wet day, but very hot, into the 30s even at altitude. We stayed in chambres d'hôtes and small hotels.
It's been absolutely amazing!
Some highlights:
Climbing the Gerbier de Jonc, the volcano at the source of the Loire:
Swimming under the Pont d'Arc:
Many fabulous stays and shared meals at Chambres d'hôtes:
Climb of the Col de Rousset then Combe Laval in the Vercors:
Total just over 800 miles and 10,000m climbing in an unforgettable fortnight.
