I set myself a target of riding 2000 miles from January 1st to December 31st 2012. I am sorry to say I won't achieve it as, to date, I have done 1550 miles and I can't see myself doing 450 miles in 2months.
Shorter day light, winterish weather and work commitments will see to that so I am hoping to reach 1800 miles instead. There is always next year!
Who has reached his/her target and who has not?

Target of 5201 miles was reached a few weeks ago, extended it to 6001 and am well on course to hit that.
Other target was to lose 2 stone, that ones not gone quite so well, but will be down at least stone I reckon

6,000 miles is my yearly target. On just over 5980 miles at the moment. Currently on target to hit 7,000 miles and could probably have done 8,000 if I didn't get injured earlier in the year.

I wouldn't admit defeat just yet, a few good weekend rides, some evening rides (what's wrong with riding in the dark?) and the Christmas holiday period will all help build the mileage. Snow and ice may be a problem though

I'll be happy to pass 5000 miles (currently ahead of schedule), the majority of which has been on the MTB

My target is 6000 miles. I am at 4990 at the moment and should have done5016 by today to be on target. A few extra miles over the next few days and I will be on top of that figure.

I had no particular target this year, but next year with commuting and Sunday rides I'm hoping to hit somewhere around the 4000 to 4500 mile mark.

Last year I was out on hogmanay doing 22 miles to reach my annual target:biggrin:
I find it helps to keep interest up if the annual target is split into into monthly targets. That way there is still an incentive to reach the monthly targets even when the annual target is clearly unobtainable.
This year I will fall short due to my summer tour being curtailed due to poor weather..

Are you going to do 1000 miles in the next few days?

Haha. I wish. I need to do 500 miles a month so I should easily be able to do 1000 miles in two months. However, I need to get ontop of what I should have completed by now as I tend to not cycle over the christmas break.
So 6000miles by 20th Dec and I will be happy.

I set my target of 2000 miles in late July. I just thought I would try for about 100 miles a week. First week into it I find out I have high blood pressure and my doctor tells me to stay off the bike for a couple of weeks, until he could run some test and get me started on medication. Losing those two weeks and taking the medication for it since is going to make me miss my goal I think. Blood pressure medications can be a little hard to get used to and can make you feel sluggish. But no big deal, I still feel much better and my blood pressure is getting better. The riding I have done has helped a lot.

I did 6900 last year and couldn't see myself fitting in many more, this year. Initial target was 7000 but I have revised it a couple of times, when it became apparent that I would pass it by a fair margin. I'm currently on track for an even 10000.

I also set myself a few other cycling tagrets, or ideas.
1. Try a sportive - check (although the torrential rain, puncture 5 mins into it, missing a turn and going miles off route, kind of put me off)
2. Join a club - check
3. Try a time trial - check

All in all - a successful year and I will have to consider my targets for next year, very carefully. There's a possibility of not being able to cycle commute 100% of the time, due to a change in circumstanes, so my mileage may well take a hit. I want to try cycling abroad next year, at some point. Perhaps try 4th category racing too.

Ive managed to beat mine  Hopefully Ill hit 4300 by the end of december.

I also had some other targets that I managed this year.
  • loose 3 stone
  • complete a 100 miler
  • compete in a sportive (got a silver time )
  • Join a club
  • survive without powered transport

For my first ever year on the bike Im quite proud. Think I might have to go for a 6000 mile target next year.

I am on about 1800 miles this year, however, this is only counted since late August after a long lay off since around Christmas 2011. I don't really have a target tbh. I have target's for next year, but absolute milage is not really one of them.
