Depends on which pages the tracking code is on. It is iften on the product pages but not the checkout pages. So the advertiser (which is most often Google) knows you visited the product page but does not know you bought it. The sites on which you see adverts usually do not know what adverts are being served. It is only Google etc. based on its tracking code being embedded everywhere, that knows. Same with Facebook embedded tracking code.

I get a load of mature dating ads. Bizarre, as I'm married, not remotely interested, and don't surf dating sites or Google 'dating' etc.

They're probably looking at your posts on here and thinking, 'there's no way he's got a wife.'

After looking at the National Trust thread a few days ago I had an advert in the top banner for NT membership.

If they're that nosy they should've known that I'm already a member.

I don't think I have it enabled, I only use my phone for Strava with GPS enabled, everything else is switched off to save the battery.

GPS is your location.
