If you can draw to a good standard then deffinatly go for your own design good tatt artists can allways tweak to fit what will look good to fit where you want it on your body. Just deffinatly dont go in and get all panicky and just go along with what your told. If you dont like it go somewhere else there is allways some idiot tattoo artists (they generally run the conveyor belt of in sit down tattoo pay money out NEXT) and some very skillfull ones. That will design exactly what you want. Just make sure you find the latter and your sorted.

And deffinatly deffinatly dont just go for the cheapest. Its an expensive thing to get hooked on thats for sure lol

Needs less solid colour which will look like a huge blob, and less fine detail which will become indistinct as it stretches and blurs over time. It's not painting a good picture... well, it does for the first three months...

What ever you decided on, find a good tattoo artist and not just a tattooist. So many of these artists are simply awesome and worth every penny you pay them for your one off bit of art. Some are just colour-by-numbers merchants.

That tattoofailure website was hilarious. We were suprised not to see a dragon tattoo on a pals backside as that seriously deserved to be in there.

Tattoos - you may as well be asking about helmets or which political party to vote for.........if you want it do it.

As others have said, put as much effort into finding the right person as the right design and when you do have the right tattoist in mind, let it be a 2 way discussion to finalise what you want and where, you're paying for their experience of how it will bed in and look in a few years time as much as their ability with the needle on the day. If you aren't happy or they aren't making suggestions and offering advice - walk away.

How about the state flags in order of visit, memento for you and not as obvious as the stars and bars - it'd give your paramours something to ask about or you could get one from each state to..... (nah, lets not go there )
