I would let it go. He made a mistake, he apologised and no one was hurt. He probably became defensive when he thought that you were pushing the point.

I think the OP would have let it go if the apology had sounded sincere

I hate taxis ....
I'd rather take the bus even if it's 2 hrs longer

I've always felt that buses don't care whether you get to your destination on time but taxis don't care whether you get there alive.
