I don't know the details but what I can see from the first photo is that the taxi is on the wrong side of the road. Maybe the driver was turning off onto the side road and clipped him. The damage to the taxi suggest the cyclist took quiet a beating.

PS: Look out for this idiot "amen" to comment on this story. Last week a child was hit and he turned the post into a tirade on why cyclist shouldn't be using the roads. Yes, there are fools even in paradise.

This person 'Amen' has stirred up quite a mess for himself. He complains about cyclists not PAYING to use the roads even though many people have already commented saying that everyone (in USA) pays tax which goes to the roads and that the law states that cyclists have every right to use the roads.

Drivers in America make my complaints about drivers in Rhyl look minute in comparison. I have always wanted to go to America on holiday but I think I will do only that, I will certainly not be taking my bike at all when I do go.

Matt_t it does depend where you go in the US. For example in California, specifically marisota county, north of the golden gate bridge in San Francisco, is bike heaven. The cycle paths are all clean and swept, at least 7ft wide and there are so many cyclists about that the car drivers all behave themselves. Biking is a way of life up there and every one cycles in one way or another.

On the other hand I have cycled in Utah which was just awful. So many angry rednecks in pickup trucks.
