He he, I went last week only to be told by a security gatekeeper that it wouldn't be there until the 21st. I pootled off and only then remembered that the 21st was the last day of racing. Officials! I'll go up and have a look, maybe tomorrow, it's such a short ride from here.

It's OK... a good place to watch tdf but my god is the grub expensive, 150 quid for a Sky rapha top as well.
I believe you about the grub - I took a wander round the stalls that were open. I'll bring my credit card with me and limit myself to an espresscafécinocato, or whatever that strong black stuff is called.

4 quid for a coffee and 4 quid for a ice cream. Take sarnies and water bottle.
Got a few items of clothing, jerseys are £60 up to £170 and t-shirts are £16

They also have a pompous city gentleman with fixey type clothing stall as well, made Rapha stuff look vastly less pompous

Sounds like there is at least one person getting excitable ;)

Not me, they asked me if I wanted my pic taken with a cardboard Wiggo. I declined, now if they had a cardboard Cav that would be completely different ;)

Best comment of the day was when they were showing tour highlights and said over the speakers this years tour is shaping up to be the best since last years tour. They are not wrong but it did make me lol

I popped along for the last 25km. A big screen with the wrong picture ratio that made Froome look like a body builder in head on shots, zero atmosphere. Going in, there was only one bike - a folder - in the park. I mentioned this to the owner and he said that they weren't happy about letting bikes in. I've got more bikes in my living room than that. Nobody clapped when Costa came in, nor when Froome came over the line, and the 3 shirts and the office sort in front of me didn't even notice, both events inconveniently happening mid-sentence. Nowt to do with cycling, all to do with merchandise - stalls all round.

Maybe there'll be some atmosphere on Sunday while the suits are away and the cyclists are out but I'm not going to watch distorted cyclists on a big screen in a place that doesn't want cyclists, and pay a fortune for a drink into the bargain.

Yours,
Disgruntled of Deptford.

Now that's why I picked Look Mum No Hands for my Alpe d' Huez half day and very enjoyable it was too. Nice beer, nice weather, informed company, cheering and clapping for Riblon, a very enjoyable day.
