Evening all! I'm back!

Had a great couple of days, enjoying Oli's company, what a chatterbox he is!

I'm home now and off to cook dinner in a minute (capon leftovers in a tomato sauce on spaghetti) before settling down to an evening of telly in bed.

I have a new pic for my desktop. Grandma made a chocolate cake for us grown ups but Oli's favourite is Yellow cake, so she made him some individual buns, and iced one with the leftover choc buttercream for him and added a candle to make it special, for him to have instead of Xmas pudding.

The result:

Apparently I often looked like that as a child, since my favourite dinner was spag bol followed by chocolate baby pudding.

And yes, we've had those pyrex plates since they were free with petrol in the 70s....

Quarter to seven this evening - James May and the longest model railway track

TBH I agree with Ollie about yellow cake, much better than Christmas Pudding or Chocolate Cake.:laugh::biggrin::biggrin:

After he has gone to bed there will be more chocolate cake left for Aunty.

In a similar vein, I had my lunch with colleagues of TheDoctor today.
Well, strictly speaking, I was eating my toast and grapefruit marmelade, and his colleagues were being interviewed on BBC News. All about satellites and vehicles with "walking wheels" for Mars (the planet - not the chocolate bar). Walking wheels, that is what the Daleks need, is it not?

James May is on my list, must get cooking soon to be ready!

Of course, I caught the Dr Who special, and nearly cried when the Dr nearly cried. Soppy? Moi? Can't wait for the second part, but then that's it....

Oli was a joy. He's really developing opinions and ideas and imagination. He climbed on to a chair to look out of my bedroom window and when asked what he could see, said "the seaside". What was at the seaside? "Dolphins, saying splish splash". Oh really?, and what do dolphins like to eat? "Cheerios!". Then he got down, toddled out of the room, toddled back, got back up and pretended to throw handfuls of Cheerios to the dolphins. Bless....

The only problem now is, he was talking about combine harvesters, and how he wanted to drive one, and we've told him we'll try and see if he can ride in one in the summer (when combine harvesters come out). So we have 6 or 7 months to make good on that! I'm thinking it's handy I have a friend who has friends who are farmers....

Now, I must go and cook!

In Star Trek Voyager, I nearly cried when Neelix had to say goodbye to the crew to go to the planet that was the most like his homeland, and he did not really want to go.

A child with lots of imagination -excellent.

I am distraught. When Nathan was born, Vernon bought me a nice piece of Royal Doulton. I loved it. Still do. Treasured it. It was kept in the china cabinet. It has not been knocked about in any way. Clearing out the china cabinet today in order to move everything from the lounge ready to redecorate said room... I noticed the piece is cracked from top to bottom and in several places cracks spreading. No obvious chips - it's not been dropped, t's just as if it had some sort of fatigue and was gradually breaking apart. It's really upset me a great deal. *sob*

Bad luck on the china Waffles - I've never owned any, so I don't know anything about it. Could an expert restorer stabilise it in some way?

Not a bad day today, plenty of stuff from Tang Hall as usual, all made more entertaining by the icerink pavements. We spent the afternoon trying to smash through the inch thick layer in the compound with mattocks and shovels, with varying degrees of success.

Curry tonight, with the last of the leftover capon I bought back from Mum's....

I've never been a fan of traditional Christmas pud, I find it a bit too rich and stodgy, but this year, my mum made Christmas pudding jellies! Aceness.
