Just struggled through a shower without a cast, or the boot, on my leg. That was harder work, and more painful, then I expected. With no support any movement or contact with my leg was just so much more painful.:B)
The effort has worn me out!
Still, good to have given it a proper wash though.

Just got bed to figure out now.

I fancy a :cuppa: but I have brushed teeth and :tired:tired.

Mix hot chilli powder in with the bird feed. Birds can't taste it but Squirrels can and hate it.

Just back from the hospital after 4 hours and slightly migrainy, hopefully it won't develop.

I was sent to the radiology dept for an ultrasound scan, which is the far end of the hospital from the entrance. Mum pulled me all the way in a chair with me punting with my sticks as much as possible to help out. Took 20minutes to get there but we were 15minutes early for the appointment.
At the appointment time the nurse notices I still have my cast on, even I know it needs to be removed first! So a porter drags me back across to the far side of the hospital to have the cast removed at the fracture clinic. Then I am dragged back to have the scan now 45minutes behind schedule.

Good news! The tendon itself isn't ruptured, it has just been ripped away from the muscle high up in the calf, right where they keep prodding it and telling me the pain is where the rip is. I know where the pain is, stop prodding it!:cursing:

Anyway, there is concern about my toe injury and I am sent down to the fracture clinic for a boot to be fitted instead of a cast.

At the fracture clinic the consultant is called to look at my toe and I am sent back up to radiology for an X-ray.
Back down at the fracture clinic I am told I have broken my toe.

My toe is strapped to the next toe and my foot stuffed into a boot with plenty of heel lifts and padding. Still hurts when the velcro straps are pulled tight though but at least I can remove it to wash.
Still can't walk on it though.
The boot is huge! I am supposed to sleep with it on.

Back in three weeks for another check up and scan.
Phew!

Jeezus!! I go skiing in a more minimalist boot than that!! And finding you've got a broken toe is all fine and dandy, but if the best bet is to strap it up, then that's not exactly got you very far, now has it?
Any way. Hope it heals up soon.
In other news, I have just got in from a somewhat protracted WNRttP.
We found a beer that was 7.2%
I is a little squiffy

I was debating whether or not to keep the old cast as a souvenir. I didn't in the end but should have done. I could have used the two halves of it with some velcro straps to achieve the same thing as this boot! It would have been lighter and smaller.

I could have done with some of that beer! At least I could have used it as an excuse for all the howling during the night!
Last night was hard work. There are no comfortable, or pain free, positions for sleeping with this thing on.
Correct that. Sleep was ok, it was the being awake at either end of the bits of sleep that were the problem.
Also, one has to be fully awake and able to think and coordinate limbs to make any night time adjustments to the boot to get the fit right.:tired:

Had one :cuppa: so far, could do with some more.

Cheers Potsy.

Yes, it is lovely and sunny here, will throw open the windows in a bit to get some air through the house room.

Is that Jo giving you a lift, in your avatar, Pots? I would have thought you'd at least try to keep up with her, or cheat.:giggle:

Arch, close your eyes, honey!

I have just been down stairs into the workshop to select a piece of timber. I pointed with the crutch to the piece I wanted, 40x220mm PAR pine, and Dad extracted it for me and placed it in the crosscut saw. He then marked it at 700mm for me (or at least I hope he did as I was in no position to check). I then had to lean, one legged, against the saw to straighten the cutting head back to 90deg, before hassling Dad to put the other pair of ear defenders on. Why is that so difficult for him to to do when asked?
I then cut the timber.

I gave up after that.:surrender: The pain got too much but the job was done.

Dad will now round off all the edges and bring it up for me and I will have a seat to lay across the bath so I can shower sitting on it. The board will be trapped between two walls as the end of the bath is in a deep alcove.
Phew!

Someone tell Arch she can open her eyes now.
Thank you.

I made a :cuppa:!
