Another warm day here.

Mornings, peeps. Cats fed, hens fed, eggs collected. Plants watered. Best of all, MrWC has made me a most excellent mug of tea. His tea-making abilities are one of his better points.

Question for Wafflycat on the subject of compost heaps. Can I put my peanut shells on the heap. I am a big* fan of peanuts roasted in their shells, and have recently indulged this with a large bag of said nutty comsumables.

* smart alec comments will be treated with the disdain they disserve!

I can answer that Speicher. Yes you can. Another lover of roasted peanuts and all the shells go in the compost heap and seem to breakdown rather nicely.

Lovely picture of Henry! He seems to have got used to the camera very quickly.
He looks very contented. I hope Mrs Ian and Henry are able to keep cool this weather.
When will he be old enough for a paddling pool?

He really is a lovely baby. Sleeping through the night already, which is not bad for 15 weeks. He's so happy and jolly too. Always smiling. Especially when I get home from work. His face just lights up in a big smile when he see's me. It's such a lovely feeling. 23 years since my last child I had forgotten how much joy they bring at that age.

We haven't got a paddling pool yet, but it's on the list. He does like his baths though bless him.

Pretty much any vegetable matter goes on the compost heap. That & pee!

I think I have been putting too much brown stuff ie paper etc in my composter. I think I will need to start again.

Later this month the local Transition Towns group is having an Open Gardens day. The nearest garden to me, sounds similar to my garden in size. I will be very interested to see how he grows his veg in a smallish plot.

I planted some tomatoes yesterday, The lady at the plant stall in the market had some "tumbling" mato plants, which do not need pinching out or tying in. I have positioned them very near the water butt. I also tried to plant a sunflower that I was given, but I did not realise how fragile it was, and broke it.

I plant the bird seed sunflower seeds. They produce more seed in due course and the birds visit the seed head to pinch (they take seed off to cache for later) and eat the seed.

BTW Speicher - I was a very busy boy yesterday as per list. I started at 10am. And I had just finished cooking (hers and my dinners) when Mrs 26x25 turned up. Such are my powers

On the compost thing - if too much of something in there - just dig it about and mix it all up. It will all compost eventually. And as Waffles says pee, pee and more pee

Today I took my lady friend for a 75 miler in the lovely sunny shine. Wonderful

I will wait for a cooler evening, and see what a mess the compost really is.

Should I add lots of grass cuttings if the mixture looks too much like decomposing cardboard? I could get a spade and chop it and mix it a lot, I suppose.

I have just got back indoors after sitting out in the garden listening to music, and reading, and drinking non-tea beverages. And talking to the cats - a very busy afternoon.

Yeah - add the grass and mix and chop away. Never let you "cardboard" dry out. Pee is good for that and is free after drinking non tea (or even tea based) beverages. It contains goodies like Nitrogen (helps decomposition and helps things grow green) and Phosphorus (good for plants for root growth). So pee pee pee I do
