Berries, flowers, thorns.... That's what I think of for those three, respectively.

Berberis makes a good boundary plant, to spike intruders... Unless they come 'intruder' gate...

And Mum has all three in her garden...

I don't suppose any of that helps, though.

That does berries and thorns they do have, also have 17 others to learn, at least 10 are in the rosacea family, 1 in the Caprifoleacea family, also featuring Cornaceae Cornas alba 'Spaethii'. Hopefully when the botanical books arrive they will help me understand what they all mean.

Morning all, tea is up and cereals over there in the corner.

I'm sooo tired this morning, woke up at 4am due to spiralling plant names in my head.

Hello. Builder's tea and Sports biscuits.
I got me a big wrench to have a go at my stuck seat post which has been soaking in ammonia for a few days. Gonna have a wrenching time tonight.

If that doesnt work I'm gonna drip feed caustic into the down tube via the drinking bottle lugs and have another wrench tomorrow.

Met a bloke on Freecycle who has a bench mounted vice which may come in handy.

Tea's hot!

It says that in the instructions.

Perhaps I should add, read the instructions and follow them...

Hang on, safety "googles"...?

Tea please!

Found out on Friday that my benefits have been suspended but no one knows quite why.
And I'm still trying to get my monies(Nearly £1k now!)from a certain London Borough Council which I need to live on in the mean time.
I will also be accountable for my full rent and council tax while my claim is suspended.

So I'm applying for other work and fingers crossed I can forge ahead.
I have a meeting with a financial adviser next Tuesday to try and settle the benefit prob so hopefully I'll know better what is happening then.

I need a cuppa while I dig in and wait to see what happens.

Dam those people, why can't they ever get it right. I too had this problem when I signed on. They love helping all the work shy druggies that go into the place on a daily bases, however when it comes to helping people who are really looking for work they don't want to know.

Hope you get it sorted soon. As for moneys owed form London Council, just sit on the phone and pester them. I hate the 30 day rule for payment £1K is nothing to them so why make someone suffer. Grrr

I'm in a bit of a tricky position with the council as I am fast becoming concerned that my boss didn't go thru the proper channels to sanction my employment which is why there is nothing forthcoming.

I made a template error in my first invoice which showed cheques as being made payable to my brother. The cheques were supposed to have been sent out in July but so far, even with the postal strikes and the cheques having supposedly been stopped, I have never seen them.

I was told today that I must continue to wait as I am undergoing a full CRB check for the council when I had given my boss the numbers from my outstanding checks, earlier in the year, which I was assured would be adequate.

It is not without some warning that I understand getting paid by any council can be like getting blood from a stone but I don't feel in anyway comfortable with the circus that is going on at the moment.

At present I have 3 choices, contact the finance dept. for a breakdown of my details and the dates of the cheques etc., contact my boss's head of department and ask them to investigate the situation in order to try and clarify things or simply sit back and wait.

I don't want to get my boss in any trouble but he's getting fed up with me ringing him once a week for an update and so far I have only his word that anything at all is being done to assure my payment.

More tea please.

That sounds ruddy appalling, mate.
Fancy meeting up soon to drown your sorrows, or at least irrigate them a little?
