A colleague of mine brought back some clotted cream fudge from his holiday last week - in Great Yarmouth. It was made in Devon, put in a plain box, and then a post card of Gt Yarmouth stuck on the box! How wonderfully British seaside tat.

But yes, mmmm, fudge.

We've got a whole fudge shop in York, you know.

I may have to come and get some.

I do like some of the seaside fudge shops, especially those with many flavours of fudge, like ice cream.

ETA the laughing is at the photo, not the posting woes, but it's not showing up in the quote

Yeah, that's the sort of thing.

In summer, there's often a girl stood outside wearing a mop cap and pinny, with a sign that says "Come and try some fudge!"

I remember when we was poor, a very special treat was a small bag of Thorntons Special Toffee to share. We made it last the 4 of us for three evenings.

those brownies look very good...fudge is lovely but like the cinder toffee it can be soo sweet! too sweet perhaps!

All this talk of cakes and sweet things over the last few days has driven me mad and I've just put a load of fairy cakes in the oven (no dairy, no egg recipe) so useful for using up store cupboard bits!

Even got some left over dairy free 'buttercream' to ice them with.

If I remember to I'll post a photo

I am waiting for the grass to dry then I'm going to sit outside with my book and .... oh bugger, no, I need to clean my chain. Then I'll sit outside with my book. Tonight, I'm going to the bicycle-powered cinema thing in Taunton. I'm going to take a big of Haribo and give the dog the shock of her life by getting her to run the 15 mile round trip beside my bike so that she can (a) lose weight and (b) enjoy the delights of Back to the Future for herself
