No chance, though a search of the word on cc does surprisingly come up with quite a few returns

Evening all.

I spent the afternoon with some colleagues, chopping, mincing and pressing apples. St Nick's Cider, here we come!

We got 8 gallons of juice, that's 64 pints! Ok, there'll be some loss when we strain out the froth, sediment and wasps, but probably only a pint or so, so there'll be plenty left.... The yeast and sugar has gone in, and now we just wait.

It was a very waspy job, even though it was pouring with rain!

Pizza for dinner. Mmmmmm.

<subsides, well fed>

Mmmmmmm, cider

*hic*

We've made three sorts, all from a mix of apple varieties. The three sorts were plain yeast and sugar (for more alcoholic cider), yeast and sweetener mix (for a sweeter cider), and Mould Rosie.

Mould Rosie is made from all the apples deemed too squishy and furry to go into the regular mix. We have no idea what it'll be like!

So who will be volunteering for the first taste of Mould Rosie? Or will it be three glasses and a game of Russian roulette?

I drank some very off Apple Schnapps when I was a student. You know the scene: come back from the bar, keep drinking, booze runs out before you collapse and someone finds a bottle lurking at the back of the cupboard xx( xx( xx(

Mould Rosie doesn't tempt me xx(, I'm even dubious of the wasp content in the rest of the cider.:o)

I have just won two 26" wheels on Ebay!
Trouble is, they are in Marlow and I am in Manchester.

Does CC do forum relays where members help transport bits around the country to save delivery costs? I know it happens regularly on a Land Rover forum I frequent but not seen it here.

Anyway, it would be helpful if one could be organised from Marlow to Manchester.
Thanks.

I've read up on this, and the fermentation process requires a certain quantity of protein and amino acids for the yeast to function. So the wasps are helping.

We will strain them out at the bottling stage.

Anyway, all fermented fruit is to some extent rotten....

Actually, I'm a beer drinker, but I'll be prepared to sample the batch I reckon.
