37 on a brommie? You must tell Arch, she'll be dead jealous. She's always wanted one...

I think Arch may be a little bit beyond being 37 on a Brommie, she is still somewhat younger then I am though and at 37 I didn't even know what a Brommie was.

Doc, I remember a discussion many years ago on another forum that determined that underwear could be worn four times.
The first wear the right way round, then back to front, then inside out and the right way round, then inside out and back to front.xx(

I saw an Arch over the weekend, but it was very tall, weighed hundreds of tonnes, and was stuck in the middle of a Parisian roundabout.
And it didn't have a Brompton.
I suspect it wasn't the same one.

Excellent. I shall have to try that on my next tour. It'll be a solo tour, or at least after a few days it will be...

Who's Arch and what is a Brompton?

The Brompton Arch is an exclusive fireplace available only through Victorian Fireplaces. The wooden surround is hand made in England by Knapp Woodworking from 100% solid wood.

You could well be right...
I have wondered if the thing to do is keep old, worn-out clothes and use them while touring.
Once you've worn something, throw it away. That way the panniers get lighter as the week goes on.
Sadly, you look really scruffy, which may not work fi you're staying somewhere posh.

Well, that's what I did. Lycra tops dry very quickly, shorts are a little slower, but dry within a few miles if they're still damp when you put them on.
My Regatta shirt (the chequered one in the photo on the thread) can be washed by hand and will dry overnight. No ironing required. In extremis, it will dry while worn in about half an hour.
Synthetic socks and undies will also dry overnight.

Had they actually invented the bicycle back then?

;)

Hmmm. Just lost out on an S bag on Ebay. Now. Do I lower my sights from the modern bags and start bidding on the old style bags, which go cheaper. Or hold out for the T bag coming up. Would a T bag be overkill for day to day use?

While I ponder, I'll utilise another sort of t bag.

Ummm, probably not, I think the main form of transport IIRC was knuckle walking.

Oh, well, so we'd come down out of the trees then? ;)

(Since I think you only have about 3 years on me, I'm playing with fire here. Ah, I remember when we discovered fire....)

I think, like the Doctor's underwear, there needs to be a limit to the number of times a T bag can be used day to day.
;)

Yeah, I find twice is about the maximum, unless you want VERY weak tea.

Due to a surfeit of eggs (due to a bit of a shopping list fail), I'm going to have carbonara for dinner.
