Yes, I did thank you, it was a touch blowy! I had a few brief spells of behinderly, but a lot of againsterly. Fortunately, not too many sideways gusts.

But I've had a great big portion of spaghetti and a cuppa, so all is well. And I even have some more cake. I accidentally bought two pieces at lunchtime!

Yeah, right. How likely is that to be accidental, do we think?

I don't quite understand how. Unless one was doing it in a foreign language.
I once asked for three rolls in a Portuguese bakery, and discovered outside they'd only given me two. I wimped out of going back to complain, and went to another bakers for a third one...

It's the transition from 'A peice' to 'Two peices' that's confusing me.
I've never managed to come back from the counter of a cafe with two bacon rolls, despite being far-and-away the most likely person I know to manage to do so.
Present company excepted, obviously

I am sure that Arch's mistake was due to her consideration and politeness towards the Baker's assistant. It is not very nice to expect the assistant to pick up a piece of cake, find a bag and the handle the money and give change, just for one piece of cake. Much more considerate if one asks for two.

I admit to having the same problem when I ask for treacle tarts. ^_^

^^^ that's what was in your rolls...

No really, it was a mistake. I went out with an order for a sandwich from the boss, and my own 'order', and forgot he hadn't asked for cake and bought two bits. So I'm having bonus cake now...:hungry:

Bear in mind that I was back out of the door before I looked at my hand, where I'd written "MILK", so I had to go back for that...
