Right, my laptop is running again and I have the internet and the ability to download important stuff like AVG and Firefox, so far.

I still have to re install some drivers and MS office.

nothing like waiting for progress indicators. At least with the newer OSs there is a lot less 'clicking' required than with the older ones!

I found, when installing the media player, that I needed to use.that disc first to partition the C drive first before installing the OS. So to get the media player I have to start again! Oh well.

Right, I'm back and the only thing lost is AutoCad, but it was a student edition that wouldn't print or do any of the other useful things one would want so I guess I should learn to use Google Sketch Up or buy Solid Works.
Time for a well earned
