I was up on the scaffold again today and finished off the soffits at the gable end of the roof as the weather looked dry enough late this afternoon, after the earlier downpour. I have dropped the top two lifts of the scaffold tower and set the platform at the right level to knock some bricks out to get the bath and basin drains through the wall. Maybe a job for tomorrow.
While I was up there my local Harris Hawk popped over to have a look at what I was doing. It perched on the TV aerial on the house next door so I took some photos and video. They are grainy as I used the camera zoom (on my old camera as my new one is so crap it can't even zoom in!).

I love the way the grainy image makes it look like the Harris Hawk has had its Ready Break!

I'm sure the bird I watched wheeling over us on Friday was the Harris. It was brilliant having a good view as it quartered the sky - a slow loop, alternate flapping and gliding, then moving on a bit and doing another loop, and so on.

Well done on the soffits. The starlings will be hopping mad at you now...

I've been looking at train fares with a view to visiting my sister. I think I will have to go to the station and just ask them. They seem to have done away with the return service I usually use, but I'd thought that before, and then found out it does exist after all, it's just not shown online....

Otherwise I may have to go down on a direct service and come back via London.... Anything, anything, but not changing at New Street please!

My BP is definitely lower when I have been on the scaffold, 148/100 this evening.
Maybe it is the altitude, or maybe under normal conditions my BP drops at height due to fear. I have been a lot more confident at height since my BP has been noticeably high.

I used to drink far too much tea according to my doctor a few years back. It gave me high uric acid levels which can lead to gout. I was drinking about a dozen cups a day. Now down to 5 or 6 a day.

Meep. I only tend to have 2 or 3 cups of tea a day. Never counted the coffee though...

I think I liked your other theory from the weekend better, that your blood pressure goes down when I'm there....

That could be an interesting medical study! Take a cohort of patients with high blood pressure and make them climb scaffolding. I've got a feeling that could go one of two ways....

Not sure how you include placebo scaffolding though.

Ah, .... Today it has all day. Only I didn't have a brolly. I got rather damp.

Still, I treated myself to some ingredients for a sweet and sour stir fry, including a real treat, a bag of prawn crackers!

Packed my paniers with healthy food* to take to work, could be a lot of drag on the way in

I will have you know that I am not well, I have some sort of chest infection and have been coughing up alsorts of unpleasantness and now have a sore throat to go with it.
