I'm on a train, again!

Oli was gratitfyingly sad that I was going, after we dropped him off at school. Max came to the train station with me and his Mum, and when it was time for me to go to the platform and them off to playgroup, said "Goodbye train!" He's got different priorities.

Just 4 and a half hours to York now, then the Transpennine leg for the weekend. There are trains direct to Manchester, and I know I had a very good reason for not booking that one instead, but can't quite remember it. (Might have been cost).

The trick now is to not eat my packed lunch too early....

It's been 20 minutes, how's that working out? :giggle:

I've managed a new PB ... woke up at half past midnight, eventually dozed off at 5, up again at 7.30 ... think my eyeballs are going to fall out.

One of my friends is now en route to Norway for a 3 week cycling tour. Jealous? Moi?

a) Something to do with not wanting to change trains at Birmingham New Street?

Edit: silly me! you said direct train.

b) Call it elevenses?

a) I do avoid that at all costs, I think it was that by the time I added in the single return from Manc to York to complete the triangle, it was more expensive, due to the various advance ticket availabilities.

b)nearly 12 noon now, I've managed not to tuck in yet.

I'm resisting :cuppa: from the trolley too, it won't be very nice, and it'll cost £2.

That the problem with food from the trolley on trains. It is expensive but tastes 'orrible. If travelling by train, and needing something to eat, I try to use the food stands in the station. Where there is a small Boots, for instance, at bigger London stations, they do a reasonable selection of not very expensive sarnies.

Yes, I try to do that too. In this case, I made sandwiches to take with me, and a bottle of tap water.

Right, lunch.

Oooh, ooh! I'd forgotten. Thanks to my sister, I have a little bag of mini cheddars! :hungry:
She know what you are like when you get an attack of the nibbles! Did you read my post about the twelve ton bronze elephant - I posted it on Tuesday evening, or.. it might have been Monday evening? Neddy the elephant....

I suppose tea would stew too much in a flask. Then it depends where you are going, and if you have to carry the flask all day.

Talking of lunch :hungry:

Tea from a flask never tastes quite right either, unless you take a flask of hot water, and tea bags and milk and assemble it all in situ, which is a faff.

Also, while I'll happily have a bottle of water, somehow having a flask on a train feels to me like something Old People do....
